Douglas Waldo
Payseur
March 6, 1942 – June 2, 2018
Douglas Payseur, 76, of Laurel Fork, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on June 2nd, 2018. He was born in Lincolnton, North Carolina on March 6th, 1942, to Gladys Carpenter Payseur and Arthur Waldo Payseur. He graduated from Garinger High School in Charlotte in 1960, and he married his true love, Brenda Lloyd, in 1961. They lived in Charlotte until 1971, when they built a home on Lake Norman, where they spent the next 34 years. Doug was an expert auto mechanic who loved restoring old cars, especially '55 Chevys. He showed several cars nationally over the years, winning countless awards for his meticulous work. Doug founded Advance Auto Tech and Restoration in Mooresville, where he worked until his retirement.
He and Brenda fell in love with the mountains of the Southwest Highlands of Virginia, and they moved to Laurel Fork permanently in 2005. Doug could always be found doing what he loved: rebuilding cars in his workshop and hanging out with his German Shepherd, Cody, then Rocco and Ranger.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Patrick Arthur Payseur, and his sister Sandra Payseur Vaughan. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Brenda, and his sister, Gayle Payseur Jonas (Vernon), of Charlotte.
A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, June 5th, at Crooked Oak Baptist Church in Hillsville, Virginia, with visitation from noon to 1pm (8956 Danville Pike, Hillsville).
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Crooked Oak Baptist Church (276-398-3664).
Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
