Douglas Ray Dobbins, 69 of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax after a long illness. Mr. Dobbins was born in Radford, VA on April 24, 1947 to the late William Ray and Sylvia Harris Dobbins.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Sharon Dalton Dobbins of the home; several cousins; beloved cats, Smokey and Queenie; Fairview Presbyterian Church Family; and special friend, Michael Cochran.

Douglas worked at the Radford Arsenal and retired after 38 years of service. He was an active member of Fairview Presbyterian Church where he was honored to serve as Elder. Douglas loved his family and friends and loved his church. One of his favorite hobbies was fishing and he loved to do it as often as he could.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Fairview Presbyterian Church at 2:00 PM with Pastor Ben Behrendt officiating. Burial will follow in the C.C. Webb Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
