Dortha Marie Horton, 80 of Dugspur, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mrs. Horton was born in Carroll County to the late Sherman and Edith Dalton. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Charlie Earl Horton and a brother Glenglee Dalton. Mrs. Horton is survived by her daughter Carolyn S. Goad of Dugspur; sisters & brothers-in-law Betty Mae Goad of Hillsville, Shirlene & Thomas Slate of Hillsville, Mary Ann & Kenneth Hundley of Florida, and Regina & Dale Goad of Dugspur; two grandchildren Darrell Quesenberry & Vickie Ham of Willis and Jason Goad of Dugspur; and great grandchild Ayden Richardson.

A graveside service and burial will be held on Friday, April 22, 2011 at the Wayne Nester Cemetery in Dugspur, Virginia with Elder Timothy McGrady and Pastor Dan Puckett officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Horton to the Galax-Carroll-Grayson Animal Shelter 111 East Grayson Street, Galax, VA 24333.
