Dorothy Melinda "Linda" Stanley 82, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 7, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.  Linda was born in Harlan Kentucky on July 8th 1941. Raised in Pennington Gap, Virginia she spent her last 23 years living in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in Hillsville, Virginia.

Linda was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ, a loving wife to Edsel "Ed" Stanley for nearly 30 years. An awesome Mom to Mark Flanary (Vicki), Robert "Bobby" Flanary, Rebecca "Becky" James, Karen Flanary, Brad Flanary (Debra) Stepson Eddie Stanley (Dawn) and Eric Stanley.  She was a doting grandmother to Jason, Beth, Kym, Justin, Steven, Lindsey, Daniel, Timmy, Ryan, Caley, Madalyn, Rosemarie, Corinne, Dale, Drew and Marshall.  Great grandmother to Carraig, DeClan, Sloane, Jackson, Joshua, Abram, Nicholas, Gabriel, Emma, Dara, Patrick, Emerald, Ridge, Baileigh, Ivria, Miles, Liat, Devar and Nora Jane. She is also survived by her sister Patsy Hamlin (Jack) and dozens of nieces and nephews as well as dear friends Mike and Gary.

She was preceded in death by her parents Laymon and Mary Belle Owens, brothers Laymon Jr., John, Oscar, William and Jack Owens, sisters Della, Flo, June, Helen, Anne and grandson Jameson Flanary.

In her later years she enjoyed being a member of her local Red Hat chapter Ruby's and Pearls and for a time was their Queen, she enjoyed her family, her church and traveling.  She never met a stranger and always made friends and family feel welcome.

While she will be missed terribly by her family and friends, we know she is with her Savior rejoicing and wanting her family to join her one day.  The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice that took such compassionate care of Linda especially Stephanie, Wanda, Melisa and Kim.  In lieu of flowers we request donations be made to Mountain Valley Hospice 1477 Carrollton Pike Hillsville, VA 24343

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Terry McMillian officiating.  Burial will follow in the Weddle Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
