Doris Gayle McMillian of Hillsville, died November 12, 2016 in Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Elkton, KY on December 3, 1952 to Johnnie and Ruth Wilson Reed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Cynthia Dawn Scott.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin McMillian of the home; brother, Jim Reed and Carolyn Mowrey of Russellville, KY; daughter, Leslie and Jeremy Melson of Bridgeville, DE; son, Danny Ray Scott of Texas; grandson, Nathan Henry and granddaughter, Allison Carey of DE; step-son, Marvin McMillian, Jr. and Kimerly Reese of Hagerstown, MD; step-grandson, Brandon McMillian, step-daughter, Carolyn Smith and step-granddaughter, Skyler Liphant of Westover, MD; step-granddaughter, Heather and Robert McFarlane of Mardela Springs, MD; and step-great grandsons, RJ and Cody McFarlane.

Doris worked as a CNA nurse for the Methodist Manor House in Seaford, DE for many years before retiring and moving to Hillsville, where she loved the flowers and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The family extends special thanks to Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel of Hillsville, who is in charge of local arrangements and also to Sebrena Savage and Mary Dalton of Southwest Virginia Home Health for their special care.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 1:30 PM with Rev. Garry Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Wilkinson Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:30 until 1:30 prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
