Kimble, Sr.
March 17, 1940 – February 14, 2023
Donald Eugene Kimble, Sr., 82 of Meadows of Dan, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Kimble was born in Carroll County, Virginia on March 17, 1940 to the late Marvin Earl and Madgie Kimble. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers and sister-in-law, Roger Kimble and James Kimble (Sandra).
Donald married Georgia Lee Dalton on December 30, 1960. They raised a family of four children together and owned and operated Kimble's Store for over 30 years. Donald also was a part-time west coast truck driver over the years and retired from Mt. Airy Oil Company in 2004 after ten plus years of service. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Georgia Kimble; children, Gene Kimble (Sandy), Susan Cockram (Darrell), Teresa Jennings (Terry), and Jeff Kimble (Gina); sister, Brenda Thompson; grandchildren, Amy Combs (Brian), Jake Cockram (Kelsey), Kayla Crowder (Kenny), Beth Jenkins (Brian), Lillie Kimble (fiancé, Zach Erlemann), Gracie Lindsey, Cole Lindsey, Levi Jennings (Caitlyn), and Melanie Jennings; great-grandchildren, Mason Crowder, Mailyn Crowder, Ada Combs, Emma Combs, Marshall Cockram, Millie Jennings, Addie Jennings, Liam Jennings, and Judge Jenkins; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Stone Mountain Baptist Church at 1492 Stone Mountain Road, Laurel Fork, VA 24352 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Greg Lamb and Rev. Roland McCraw officiating. Burial will follow in the Kimble Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kimble Cemetery Fund c/o Susan Cockram 23 Clint Lane, Meadows of Dan, VA 24120, to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017, or to the Laurel Fork Volunteer Fire Department P.O. Box 65, Laurel Fork, VA 24352. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
