Dewel L. Horton, 80 of Hillsville, VA, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Waddell Nursing & Rehab Center in Galax, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard & Vesta Webb Horton; special grandson Steve Thomas; two sisters Alta Davis, Lois Branscome,

Mr. Horton is survived by his wife JoAnn Horton of the home; three daughters & sons-in-law Wanda & W.C. Thomas of Hillsville, Joan & David Carpenter of Wytheville, and Valerie & James Blevins of Hillsville; son & daughter-in-law Wendell & Kitty Horton of Hillsville; two brothers & sisters-in-law Elwood & Mary Joyce Horton of Hillsville, and Lonnie & Magdalene Horton of Fancy Gap; three sisters & brothers-in-law Bonnie Faye & Charles Sumner of Fancy Gap, Eva Sue & Bennie Nester of Galax, and Dana & Elden Marshall of Hillsville; three grandsons Anthony Thomas, Aaron Horton, James Blevins, Jr.; four granddaughters Kasey Wimmer, Mindy Holt, Kelly Carpenter, Mary Carpenter; three great granddaughters, one great grandson also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Wendell Horton, Rev. Elmon Thompson and Mr. Anthony Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Webb Sky View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, July 17, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
