Deward J. Montgomery, 82 of Hillsville, passed away on March 8, 2010.

Mr. Montgomery was preceded by his wife Phyllis Dalton Montgomery; mother Stella Jennings Montgomery; and father Daniel Levi Montgomery.

Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law Steven D. and Michelle Montgomery and Gary W. Montgomery; daughters and sons-in-law Rebecca M. and John Carlson and Susan M. and Mitchell Dalton; sister and brother-in-law Audra and Connie Richardson; special caregiver & friend Jackie Sexton; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Deward and Phyllis Montgomery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 6-8 pm at the First Baptist Church in Hillsville, VA

Private family burial will be held Friday, March 12, 2010 with Rev. Ed Richardson and Dr. Lawrence Childs presiding.
