Dennis "Lightning" Lee Melton, Sr., 80 of Galax, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Highland Ridge Manor in Dublin. Mr. Melton was born in Carroll County to the late Daniel R. and Lillie Robinson Melton.

Survivors include his children, Joyce Melton Goad of Draper, Dennis Lee Melton, Jr. and Linda of Georgia, and Alice Sawyers of Dugspur; sisters, Mary Ann Melton of Woodlawn and Lula Amstutz of Galax; two grandchildren; and two nieces and one nephew.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Sam Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the Melton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Melton Cemetery P.O. Box 600 Austinville, VA 24312.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
