Delton Ray
Alderman
April 26, 1936 – September 29, 2023
Delton Ray Alderman, Senior crossed the River to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 29, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife of 66-years, Mary Webb Alderman of Hillsville, Virginia. He was the proud father of two-children: Delton R. Alderman, Jr. of Pearisburg, VA and Susan Alderman Holder and her husband Rick of Hillsville. Delton also is survived by two grandsons and a great-grandson, whom he loved dearly: Morgan, Lauren, and Hayden Holder of Christiansburg, VA and Lucas Holder, and his special friend Hana Hepburn of Raleigh, NC.
Delton was the eldest of four-children and was born on April 26, 1936, to Clyde and Norma Alderman of Hillsville. He was preceded in death by his parents and two-sisters, Christine and Lois. Delton is survived by his sister, Marie Alderman Edwards and her husband Nelson of Sanford, NC. Three special sister-in laws: Annie Felts of Pipers Gap, Nola Keith of Hillsville, and Vicki and J.R. Stone of Hillsville. He also is survived by several nephews and nieces: Nelson and Rebecca Edwards, Jr. of Morrisville, NC; Sheila and Mark Taylor of Sanford, NC; Brent Felts of Pipers Gap, VA; Rhonda and Mike Marshall of Galax, VA; Travis and Amanda Keith of Savanah, GA; Tammy and Steven Stoneman of Hillsville; and Chris Stone of Hillsville.
Delton was a truck driver for more than 30-years, last with Anchor Motor Freight. He dearly loved his family, and greatly enjoyed bluegrass, camping, Mt. Airy High School football, and Virginia Tech athletics. Delton was very proud of his children and grandchildren's academic achievements, his son's Ph.D., his daughter's B.S., his eldest grandson's Ph.D., and the youngest grandson's work on his LL.D.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the Semones Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Pastor Chris Burnette. The family will greet all after the ceremony.
