David Alan Wood, 65 of Hillsville, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023. He was born in Virginia on December 14, 1957 to the late Kenneth and Ruby Wood. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Swecker and Edgar Swecker.

He is survived by sisters, Terry Wood (Jerry Dowling), Pat Hines (Paul), and Alma Coleman; a son, Zach Wood; a daughter, Chelsea W. Herron; and several nieces and nephews.

David served in the U.S. Air Force from September 1, 1977 to September 1, 1981 and received an honorable discharge.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at the Smith Lindsey Cemetery at 11:00 AM with Rev. Paul Gilman, Jr. officiating. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
