David Totton Martin, Jr. age 87 of Hillsville, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Lewis Gale Pulaski Hospital.  Mr. Martin was born on June 4, 1936 in Carroll County, Virginia to the late David Totton Martin and Minnie Montgomery Martin.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Janie E. Martin; brothers, Ernest, Clain, Chester and Steve; and sisters, Launa, Velma, and Birgie.

Mr. Martin was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and was a hard worker. He worked at Coleman Furniture and New Jersey Zinc Mines as well as Pulaski Furniture, where he retired from.    David loved baseball, car racing and coon hunting.

Survivors include his daughters, Janice Martin Mabry and Peggy Martin Mendez (Manuel); grandchildren David Martin Mendez (Cheyenne), Tabitha Mendez (Cody), Jessica Mendez (Preston), Victor Mendez, Gary Mabry (Melissa) and Matthew Mabry (Jada); and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 12:00 PM with Pastor Wilma Dalton officiating.  Burial will follow in the C.C. Webb Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM prior to the funeral service.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
