Daryl Reid Flowers, Sr., 83 of Hillsville, passed away at his home on Monday, July 20, 2015. He is survived by his loving family, wife of 55 years, Irene A. Flowers; sons and daughter-in-law, Barry Wayne and Angie Flowers of Asburn, VA and Christopher Keith Flowers of Hillsville; five grandchildren, Bryan and Bruce Flowers of Asburn, VA, Danielle Elizabeth, Chandler Ryan, and Haley Katherine Flowers of Hillsville; three sisters, Shirley Davis of Mooresville, NC, Lellian Mantooth of Danville, and Sara Noblette of Charlotte, NC. He was born on July 12, 1933 in Gastonia, NC. He was preceded in death by his son, Daryl Reid Flowers; his parents, James Hampton and Lucy Wansley Flowers of Gastonia; and three brothers Blen Flowers of Gastonia, NC and Cade and Jack Flowers both of San Antonio, Texas. Daryl proudly served his country in the Air Force from 1952 to 1959 and was a Veteran of the Korean War. The Flowers family extends their gratitude to the staff, doctors, nurses, chaplain and volunteers at Radford Carilion Hospice Clinic for their compassionate loving care. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Gardner Memorial Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service.
