Cornelia Jewel Horton, 69 of Mt. Airy, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2011 at her home. Ms. Horton was born in Carroll County to the late Elbert Paul and Myrtle Mae Stockner Horton. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by two brothers Joe Bill Horton and Onza Edward Horton. She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law Paul and Eula Horton of Portland, TN, Jim and Noemi Horton of Simpsonville, NC, and Jake Horton of King, NC; sisters and brothers-in-law Mozell and Noel Branscome of McMinville, OR, and Anita and Larry McKenna of Hendersonville, TN; sisters-in-law Jacqueline Branum of Benbrook, TN and Josephine Horton of Mocksville, NC; special friend Victoria Lang of King, NC; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 12:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Wendell Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Webb-Skyview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday one hour before the service.
