Cora Mae Bowman, 80 of Woodlawn, went to be her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Hillsville Health and Rehab Center in Hillsville, Virginia.  She was born June 18, 1945 to Clell and Goldie Harmon of Woodlawn. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Elder Edward Bowman and her brother, Charles Roger Harmon.

She is survived by her brother-in-law, Berlie Bowman; sisters-in-law, Patsy Bowman and Barbara Harmon; many cousins; and several nieces and nephews.

Cora retired from the Galax Gazette after nearly 42 years as the office manager.  She became a member of Mt. Lebanon Church in 1979 and attended until her health declined.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Elder Tim McGrady and Elder Dan Puckett officiating.  The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM prior to the funeral service.  Cora Mae will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Edward, in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery Fund, 36 Quail Ridge Court, Galax, VA 24333.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
