Connie Gay Nester, 86 of Hillsville, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023 at Novant Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC.  Mrs. Nester was born in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Henry C. and Cloa Mae Dalton Nester.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Moir Nester; brothers, Tommy Nester and Bussie Nester; and sister, Phyllis Nester.

Survivors include her children, Glenn Nester (Belvia), and Gail Goad (Ben); grandchildren, Jacob Nester (Katie), Michael Nester (Mandy), and Matthew Goad; great-grandchildren, Lucas Nester, Miles Nester, Ezra Nester, Elam Nester, and Emmett Nester; siblings, Bennie Nester (Eva Sue), Jean Surratt, Joan Strickland (Namon), and Becky Hendrick (Sandy); sister-in-law, Darla Nester; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Crooked Oak Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Rev. Sandy Hendrick officiating.  Burial will follow in the Crooked Oak Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM, prior to the funeral service.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crooked Oak Baptist Church c/o Joan Strickland 476 Crooked Oak Road, Hillsville, VA 24343. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
