Clinton Jerome (Jerry) Surratt, 85, of Hillsville, VA., passed away at his home on December 25, 2022. Funeral services will be held at Dalton Hill Christian Church, 209 Coon Ridge Road in Hillsville, on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 2 P.M, with visitation at 1 P.M. Burial to follow in Surratt Family Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Brenda Surratt: daughter Tammy Kleinke: sons Anthony Surratt and Shane Surratt; sons-in-law Barry Kleinke and Todd Harrington; grandchildren Jared Havens, McKenna (Mabe) Phipps, Dillon Surratt, and Paige Surratt; great- grandchildren Landon Cooley and Brooks Phipps; step-granddaughter Andrea Kleinke Martin; step-greatgrandchildren Eres Martin and Dahlia Martin; sister Linda Newman; and brother Rick Surratt. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Charles Surratt, Norman Surratt, and Nancy Austin.

Over a period of more than 25 years, Jerry diligently designed and constructed a granite house, which he dubbed "Surratt's Sunshine Chalet," perched on a hill overlooking Claytor Lake in Pulaski County.

Born in McDowell County, WV., to Sebert and Ethel Surratt, on May 17, 1937, Jerry lived from the age of 5 years old in the Coon Ridge community of Carroll County, Va. He drove a tractor trailer professionally for nearly 50 years, retiring at age 73 after some 25 years of hauling FedEx trailers for Merle Barker Leasing.
