Clayton Thomas (Tom) Farmer, 78 of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at his home. Mr. Farmer was born in Carroll County to the late Michael Lawrence & Doris Crockett Farmer Porter. He is survived by his wife Margaret Jean Farmer of the home; son & daughter-in-law Michael & Carolyn Farmer of Blythewood, SC; daughters & sons-in-law Brenda & Scott Thompson of Galax, Sandra & James Cave of Sneedville, TN, Joyce & Bill Barr of Hagerstown, MD, Nancy Largen of Woodlawn, Janet & Ronnie Wynn of Hillsville, Barbara Hammack of Bedford, VA, and Sonya & Adam Cregger of Hillsville; twenty-two grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and special friends Jerry & Barbara Vitruls, Leon & Jackie Goad, Mac & Rose Turner, Freddie Horton and Lewis DeHaven.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 7:30 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Bishop Leon Goad officiating and remarks by Scott Thompson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 6:00 PM prior to the funeral service.
