Hall, Sr.

Clayton L. Hall, Sr of Hillsville, VA (formerly of High Point, NC) died peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 26, 2025, he was 81.
Born on August 25, 1943 in Carroll County, VA, Clayton was the third son of the late Herman A. Hall and Geneva Cocke Hall. He grew up in the Fancy Gap area and later moved to High Point NC with his family. In 1958 he met Ann Riley to whom he married on April 21, 1962.
Clayton started his long career with the circulation department in the newspaper industry in the 1960s. He worked for High Point Enterprise, The Thomasville Times, News & Record of Greensboro, The Burlington Times News and The News & Observer of Raleigh.
In 1978 he formed Expert Newsrack Services and began a long career in providing newspaper rack refurbishing, sales and service as well as circulation consulting services. He continued working in the business until closing the operation in 2018 but remained a distributor of circulation supplies until 2024. Clayton was very proud of the business he and his family built together and is very grateful to the loyal customers who became life-long friends to him and his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Ann Hall, and brothers Arlin Hall and Avon Hall.
Clayton is survived by his companion Carol Anderson, sister Cathern Hall of Goodview, VA. Sons Clayton (Lonnie) Hall, Jr. of Greensboro and David Hall of High Point. Grandsons Clayton (Clay) Lonnie Hall III (Ashley) of Thomasville, NC and Connor Hall (Marisa) of Winston Salem, NC, 3 great-grandsons and 2 great-granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel, 1035 N Main St. Hillsville, VA at 2:00 PM with Pastors Dennis Moore and Sandy Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his honor to Mt. Lebanon Cemetery Fund 36 Quail Ridge Ct. Galax, VA 24333 or Mt. Airy Friends Church 109 W Wilson St. Mt. Airy, NC 27030. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
