Clayton Jimmy Carter, 76, of Woodlawn, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2012 at his home. Mr. Carter was born in Bartley, WV to the later Marion Pete and Grace Carter. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean Kemp Carter. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law Eraina Fine of Princeton, WV, Edna and William Brooks of Hillsville, and Tammy L. Carter and Joe Cragle of Woodlawn; grandchildren and spouses Chris Barker and Trish, Angela and Ralph Watkins, Jessica Fine, Joy and Chad Reynolds, Clayton Carter-Farmer, and Robert Cragle; great grandchildren Andrew Reynolds, Kaeleigh Reynolds, Chance Watkins, Savannah Dalton, Scarlett Dalton, Nathan Barker, and Zoey Barker; sister Ruth Bowling of Princeton, WV; and brothers Peter Carter of Princeton, WV and Denver Carter of Portsmith, VA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 3:00 PM with Rev. R.J. Buttery officiating. Burial will follow in the Shockley Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 1:00 PM lasting until service time at 3:00. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
