Claude Martin Gardner, 54, of Woodlawn, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Mr. Gardner was born in Carroll County on December 27, 1957. He was preceded in death by his father Lawrence C. Gardner. Survivors include his mother Freeda Hill Gardner of Woodlawn; brother Joseph W. Gardner of Wytheville; sister and brother-in-law Millie & Marshall Wykoff of Johnson City, TN; nephews Tyrus W. Gardner, Jacob Gardner, and Matthew Wykoff; niece Michelle Wykoff; and special friend Aleta Moore. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Gloria Lancaster Rhudy and Rev. Terry Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 12:00 PM and lasting until service time. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Woodlawn Methodist Church Kitchen Fund P.O. Box 75, Woodlawn, VA 24381 or to the Woodlawn Cemetery Fund 291 Forest Oak Road, Woodlawn, VA 24381.
