Clarence Rush Dalton, 90, of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Waddell Nursing and Rehab. Mr. Dalton was born in Carroll County to the late Jas Roscoe and Elva May Jennings Dalton. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Emory Kenneth Dalton; grandson, Ernest Russell Brooks; nine brothers; and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Velva Modine Dalton of the home; children and spouses, Donna Brooks and husband, Michael Berger of Wales, MI, Clarence Dalton, Jr. and wife, Alice Dalton of Woodlawn, and Debra Dalton of Hillsville; brothers, Conrad Dalton, Ferlin Dalton, Richard Dalton, Olen Dalton, and Don Dalton; sisters, Ann Whitaker, Inda Mae Quesinberry, Sue Easter, Ocie Sutphin, Kay Gardner, and Kathy Rothgeb; six grandchildren, Giles Nelson Brooks, Cetta Hancock, Dominic Sotile, Craig Berger, B.J. Watkins, and Jennifer Melton; and five great grandchildren, Russell Brooks, William Edmonds, Dylan Link, Haylea Link, and Case Melton. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor David Bays officiating. Burial will follow in the Jennings Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
