Clarence Lester Burnett, age 101 of Max Meadows, died on October 4, 2017. He was born August 5, 1916 in Carroll County to the late Norma Lester and Vadie Viola Harmon Burnett. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years Jewett Primm Burnett. They were the owners of Poplar Camp Electric Company for 45 years.

Mr. Burnett is survived by his daughters, Patsy B. Surratt and Clayton of Roanoke and Sonja Nester Boyd and Gary of Fancy Gap and sons, Roger C. Burnett and wife Myrna Stoots Burnett of Staunton and Lowell B. Burnett and wife, Jo-ella Hudson Burnett of Austinville. Grandchildren surviving are Tony Surratt and Jennifer, Kim Surratt and Sulyn Broyles all of Roanoke, Randall Nester of Las Vegas, NV, Eric Nester and Donna of Fancy Gap, Michele Comer and Sean of Staunton, Cheryl Landi and Matt of Harrisonburg, Mitchell Burnett and Lynn of Kitty Hawk, NC, Blake Burnett and Amy of Charlotte, NC, Jody Burnett and Kelly of Max Meadows; ten great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Also surviving are two brothers, Lonnie Burnett and Buford Burnett and wife, Juanita; sisters, Eski York and Rosa Felts; and very special friend, Mae Phillips.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Pine Grove Primitive Baptist Church at 1:30 PM with Elder Ronald Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery. The grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 12:00 until 1:30 PM prior to the funeral service.
