Clara Anna Alderman, age 98 of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away January 24, 2017 in the Waddell Nursing Home, Galax, Virginia.

Mrs. Alderman was born on August 16, 1918 in Carroll County, Virginia to Lafayette and Lavinia Stockner. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Alderman; son, Orba Alderman; and sisters, Easter Keith, Essie Nester, Virginia Hill, and Edith Dalton.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Jack Conklin of Woodlawn, Virginia; daughter-in-law Ruth Alderman of Hillsville, Virginia; sisters Doris Webster of Asheboro, North Carolina and Evelyn Carr of Portsmouth, Virginia; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Elder Edward Bowman and Elder Eddie Bunn officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Hope Cemetery Fund, Lucella Lewis, 2032 Crooked Oak Road, Hillsville, Virginia 24343. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
