Christopher Jay Spence, 51, of Hillsville, Virginia was born January 24, 1974 in Mt. Airy, North Carolina to Rome Pierce Spence and Dawn Marshall Spence.

Chris departed his earthly home on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at the Howard and Joan Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC after a courageous battle with colon cancer.

Chris leaves behind to cherish his memory: his mother, Dawn Thomas of Sanford, NC; son Liam Spence of Hillsville; companion Angi Farris of Hillsville; two brothers Shannon (Chanh) of Laos; Mike Baldwin of Stuart, Virginia; three sisters: Terri Tucker of Mt. Airy, NC: Sabrina (Larry) Edwards of Woodlawn; and Angel (Tyrone) Gwyn of Pfafftown, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Rome Spence, paternal grandparents Ralph and Mazie Spence; maternal grandparents Parley and Mertie Marshall; step father Clarence McDougald  and a niece, April McCraw.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church, Hillsville, Virginia beginning at 3:00 PM with Pastor Kevin Harrod officiating.  Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until time for the service at 3:00 PM.

Chris will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
