May 1, 1944 – January 25, 2026
Charlie Gray Bryant, 81 of Galax, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2026, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson and dementia. He was born May 1, 1944, the son of the late Walter Isaac and Ada Mae Edwards Bryant. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two wives, Gardella Burnette Bryant, his wife of five years and Bernice Martin Bryant, his wife of forty-two years; and siblings, his twin brother, Ray Bryant, Gene Bryant, Raymond Bryant, Gordon Bryant, Bill Bryant, Nina Roberts, Frances Porterfield and baby boy Bryant.
Charlie was of the Brethren Faith and attended Coulson Church, before becoming sick. He retired after 30 years at Lawrence and Nester Distributing of Danville, VA where he drove a beer truck and was a route supervisor. Charlie loved watching Nascar Racing. Jeff Gordon #24 was his favorite; however, he then went on to pull for Ross Chastian (Watermelon Man) and Kyle Larson. He loved fishing and anything with an Eagle on it. He loved blue grass music, especially Ralph Stanley, and would go to bed every night listening to 98.1.
Charlie was a loving father, husband, grandfather and uncle. He is survived by one daughter, Tammy Graham and husband, Thomas; one granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Graham (Ethan White); one fur grand-pup, Maggie, who he loved sneaking treats to; one sister, Adaleen Bryant Horton; special niece, Kathy Horton; special friends who helped with Dr. appointment and baking desserts; a special young man and friend Dorian Wayne Bond; and an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, and step-children.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Coulson Church at 2:30 PM with Dr. Wayburn Mosley and Pastor Russell Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Coulson Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.FW. Grover King Post 1115. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 7 at Coulson Church from 1:30 until 2:30 PM.
