Charles Lewis Surratt, 83 of Pulaski, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Salem VA Medical Center. Mr. Surratt was born in Carroll County to the late Sebert J. and Mary Ethel White Surratt. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Brian Surratt and a sister, Nancy Carol.

Survivors include his wife, J. Carol Surratt of the home; children, Tim Surratt of Lynchburg, Paul Surratt, Rebecca Surratt, and Patrick Surratt; step-children by a previous marriage, Cecil Nixon and Lisa Johnson; brothers; Jerry Surratt, Norman Surratt, and Rick Surratt; sister, Linda Newman; several grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild and several step-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Surratt served his country for over 20 years in the United States Navy. Some of his assignments include the USS MC Gowan, the USS Norris, and the USS Julius A. Furer. He was awarded several decorations and medals including a Fifth Good Conduct Medal and retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady at 11:00 am with Pastor Mike Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Surratt Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
