Charles Calvin Bass, Sr. 84, of Dugspur, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Bass was born in North Carolina to the late Walter Henderson and Rozella Combs Clark Bass. Survivors include his wife, Elaine Hall Bass of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Melvin Huffstickler of Procter, TX; sons and daughter-in-law, Gary Bass of Flippin, AR and Charles Calvin, Jr. and Camilla Bass of Mooresville, NC; step children and spouses, Edith and Glen Freeman of Laurel Fork, Donnie and Janet Harris of Rocky Mount, VA, Janice and Pat Davis of Stoneville, NC and Melvin and Dorothy Hall of Laurel Fork; brothers, Samuel Morris Bass and Bernard Bass, both of Fayetville, NC; seven grandchildren; six step grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ray Bolen officiating. Burial will follow in the Hall Family Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
