Cecil Vass, 79 of Woodlawn, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Mr. Vass was born in Wythe County, VA to Joseph Arlyss and Lillah Goad Vass. He is survived by his wife Gaynell Vass of the home; daughter & special friend Barbara Vass & Fred Richardson of Wytheville; step sons & spouses Kenneth & Mary Jane Griffin of Galax and James & Betty Jo Griffin of Woodlawn; sister & brother-in-law Mary & Charles Lineback of Hillsville; special cousin Chester Goad of Galax; two step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; and special niece and nephews Judy, Garry and Darrell Lineback.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rev. Norman Goad and Rev. Wendell Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday night from six until eight.
