Cecil Grant Horton, 70, of Austinville passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Twin County Regional Hospital. He was born in the Laurel community to the late William Roscoe and Edith Lineberry Horton. He was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Melda Horton Alexander, and Emma Horton Layman; father and mother-in-law, Early and Hortence Overstreet Southern; brother-in-law, Vance Roaunger. Survivors include his wife Judy Southern Horton of the home; children Gary Grant Horton and wife Sandra and Michelle Simone Shaffner all of Laurel; four brothers and sisters-in-laws, William Alva and Mary Horton of Ohio, Ranza and Doris Southern Horton and Lester and Mae Horton all of Laurel, and Randolph and Dalia Horton of NC; sister, Rella Horton Romanger of NC; brother-in-law, Early Carlton Southern and wife, Sandy of Pulaski; six grandchildren and spouses, Tommy and Caroline Horton, Kristen and James Desmond, Elizabeth and Tony Brook, Shenna and Eric Edwards, Amber Simone, Levi Simone; great grandchildren, Hunter, Harper, Jace, Lillie, Jazmine, Nicholas, Tiffany, Mathins, Justin, Zoe, Blaise, and Ezra; three step granddaughters and spouse, Amy Templeton, Mandy and Mike Nester, and Rachel Farris. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Elder Ronald Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Coulson Cemetery. Military Rites will conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the Horton family.
