Cathy Louise Akers, 54 of Hillsville, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Junior Akers; sisters, Cindy Akers and Jackie Akers; and brother, Steven Akers. Survivors include her mother, Lois Akers of Hillsville; sister and brother-in-law, Mickie and Harry Smart of Hillsville; brother, Mike Akers of Hillsville; nieces, Kaitlin Keller and Mikayla Smart; and nephew, Matthew Smart. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
