Carrie Opal Gravley, 86, of Hillsville, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center. Mrs. Gravley was born in Carroll County to the late Elbert Jackson and Bertie Richardson Parnell. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lee Gravley, and a son, Bobby Lee Gravley. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Bonnie Gravley of Woodlawn; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Mike Shelor of Hillsville; stepson, Fred Marshall Gravley of Radford; granddaughter and spouse, Stephanie and Eric Carter of Vinton; step granddaughter, Teresa Nester; step grandson, Allen Surratt; two great grandsons, eight step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Elder Ronald Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilkinson Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. A Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
