Turman
August 19, 1934 – May 21, 2023
Carl L. Turman, 88 of Greensboro, formerly from Carroll County, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at his home. Mr. Turman was born in Dugspur, Virginia to the late William Jeremiah and Oka Mae McPeak Turman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Denny "Elmer" Turman and his beloved dachshund, Bailey.
Carl is survived by his wife of 59 years, Willa H. Turman of the home; Mother-in-law, Frances Flinchum of the home; special cousins, Joyce Cagle and husband Dale, sister-in-laws Joni Park, Pamela Rumley, and Kimberly Ingle; niece Desiree Wilson and husband Michael; and great-nieces, Taylor Wilson and Caitlyn Wilson. Carl was loved by so many, but he had several close friends that meant the world to him. Special friends, Ursula Reinhardt Faggert, Kimberly Piper, Penny Jones, and Donna and Roger Testerman; Thank you for your friendship.
Mr. Turman lived in Baltimore Maryland for more than forty years where he proudly worked for Bethlehem Steel. After retiring from this company, he went to work for Walmart and enjoyed 13 years there, making many friends along the way.
Carl was an avid Nascar fan, watched baseball and football and walked with friends at the mall. He loved going to Ocean City Maryland, strolling on the boardwalk and going to car shows. Any time spent with Bailey was treasured, especially walking her and meeting other
four-legged friends.
A special thanks to Authoracare Hospice of Greensboro. They gave exceptional care to Carl in the last few weeks, and each nurse and aid provided comfort and peace to the family.
A graveside service with burial will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 2:00 PM the Pine Grove Cemetery in Dugspur with Elder Melvin McGrady officiating. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Thursday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to AuthoraCare Hospice 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
