Carl Hicks Staples, 80 of Hillsville, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at his home. Mr. Staples was born in Carroll County to the late Solan and Ethel Hicks Staples. He is survived by his wife Allie Staples of the home; son & daughter-in-law Marlon & Cathy Staples of Hillsville; daughter Susan Harold of Appomattox, VA; brothers & sisters-in-law Joe Staples of Hillsville, Horace & Virginia Staples of Hillsville, Edmund & Imolene Staples of Hillsville, Jay & June Staples of Willis, and James & Joyce Staples of Hillsville; sisters & brother-in-law Nellijeane & Kenneth Hollandsworth of Raleigh, NC and Lola Wolfe of Pulaski; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Chip Neely officiating. Burial will follow in the Staples Cemetery at Triple Ridge Farm. Military rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 13, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
