Calvin E. Sawyers, Jr. 84 of Fancy Gap, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at his home. Mr. Sawyers was born in Carroll County to the late Calvin E. Sawyers, Sr. and Florence Bonds Sawyers. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother Weldon Sawyers, sisters Scioto Hawks and Bessie Sawyers, and a niece Herma Hawks. He is survived by his wife Essie Janas Haynes Sawyers of the home; sons & daughters-in-law William Vincent Sawyers and Jerry & Cheryl Q. Sawyers all of Fancy Gap; daughters & sons-in-law Denise & Darrell Goad and Nancy S. & Bill Bakley all of Hillsville; brother & sister-in-law Thomas & Mamie Sawyers of Fancy Gap; sister Ovela Easter of Cana; and three grandchildren PFC Travis Goad, Maria Dawn Goad and Jacob Sawyers.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2009 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Wendell Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Bond Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 4, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
