Mr. Calvin Coolidge Collins, 89, of 4391 Stable Road, Hillsville, VA passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Collins was born November 1, 1924 in Surry County, NC, one of nine children born to the late Watt and Ada Collins. He was retired from VDOT. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Norene Bunn Collins of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Suzanne Collins of Hillsville and Gary and Pam Collins of Bland, VA; three granddaughters and spouses, Stephanie and Jason Burnette of Woodlawn, Christy and Darin Shupe of Hillsville and Brenna and Michael Maxwell of Bland; two great granddaughters, Taylor and Rianna Shupe; one great grandson, Ayden Maxwell; sister-in-law and spouse, Reva and Gerald Combs; and a special friend, Susan Utt. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel. Burial will follow in the Independence Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM prior to the funeral service.
