Callie Naomie Smith, 96, of Galax, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center. Mrs. Smith was born in Carroll County to the late James Preston and Nancy Ellen Smith Goad. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Smith; brother, Chester Goad; half sister, Fannie Martin Huff; and half brothers, Waltman Goad and Anderson Goad. Survivors include several nieces and nephews, and friends and nurses at Waddell Nursing Home. A graveside service with burial following will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Monta Vista Memory Gardens with Pastor Scott Marshall officiating. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 9:30 AM until 10:15 AM. A guestbook is available Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
