Burton Jackson Riggins, 90, of Hillsville, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center. Mr. Riggins was born in Wythe County to the late Stuart and Fannie Young Riggins. He is survived by his wife Alma Estelle Viars Riggins of the home; sons and daughter-in-law Roger Lee and Shellia Haywood Riggins of Edgewood, FL, Johnny Ray Riggins of Laurel Fork, and Larry Eugene Riggins of Hillsville; daughter Barbara Kidd and husband Ronnie Lawson of Barren Springs; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Riverview Church of God at 2:00 PM with Pastor Eddie Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in the Riggins Family Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, December 31, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
