Bonnie Gail
Cochran
June 11, 1947 – June 1, 2024
Bonnie Gail Cochran, 76, passed away peacefully in her home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Blanche Varney. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Pridemore; and husband, Larry "LC" Cochran.
Survivors include her sons, Sy Cochran and Ryan (Tessa) Cochran. Grandchildren, Bryce Cochran, Grant Cochran, and Cora Cochran. Also her very best friend, Judy DeBolt.
Bonnie was born on June 11, 1947 in West Virginia, though she spent most of her life in Hillsville, Virginia. It was in Hillsville that she met and married the love of her life, Larry "LC" Cochran in 1979. Together they had two sons, Sy and Ryan Cochran. Even though their time together was cut short due to the untimely death of LC, Bonnie shared vivid memories of their life together up until her passing.
Bonnie served as the Volunteer Services Director at the Southwest Virginia Training Center in Hillsville, Virginia. She then went on to manage group homes throughout the area. In 2018, she was able to move to Virginia Beach, Virginia to be closer to her son Ryan and his family. Ryan and Tessa will always cherish the privilege of helping Bonnie through her illness.
Even with many health challenges, Bonnie still found ways to help those around her. She enjoyed crafting, art, and writing, but her deep connection and love for music was what spoke to her the most.
The biggest joy in Bonnie's life were her children and grandchildren. It was apparent during visits with her family when her face would light up with pride. Bonnie relished her role as "Gram", showering love to her three grandchildren, Bryce, Grant and Cora. She held a special bond with each of them. Bonnie's legacy will continue to live on through her sons and grandchildren. Her devotion to her family will forever be cherished.
