Bobby L. Payne, 67 of Galax, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at his home. Mr. Payne was born in Wythe County to the late Herman Luther and India Jane Pickett Payne.

Bobby attended Wytheville Community College and Virginia Tech. He worked in textile management until his retirement. He also served on the Wythe County Board of Supervisors and was Chairman for many years.

Survivors include his daughter, Elisha Weatherman of Woodlawn; granddaughters, Emily Payne and Jadyn Weatherman; grandson, Isaiah Weatherman; sister and brother-in-law, Beatrice and Everett Alexander; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with burial following will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Charity Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 PM with Evangelist Shirley Quesenberry officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
