Bobby Layne Nester, 50 of Hillsville, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Nester was born in Carroll County to the late Carlos & Beulah Nester. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother Delmon (Pete) Nester. He is survived by his wife Kathy G. Nester of the home; daughter & son-in-law Danielle & Joshua Ogle of Roanoke; son Robert Adam Nester of Hillsville; brothers & sister-in-law Clinton Stuart Nester and Cleston H. & Jennifer Nester all of Dugspur; sisters & brothers-in-law Helen Grubb & Ronnie Nation, Joyce Rotenizer, and Brenda N. Hynek all of Winston Salem, NC, Nila & Richard Reynolds of Lexington, NC and Elsie & J.D. Turman of Hillsville; special brother-in-law Garry W. Goad of Woodlawn; mother-in-law Merle E. Goad of Hillsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 1, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Dr. Alan Cherry officiating. Burial will follow in the Reece Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 30, 2009 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 PM.
