Bobby D. Mabe, 74, of Hillsville passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Mabe was born in Carroll County to the late John Henry & Emma Hanks Mabe. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother J.C. Mabe and a sister Margie Ruth Shupe. He is survived by his wife Virginia J. Mabe of the home; son & daughter-in-law Bernard Dean & Roxann Mabe of Hillsville; daughter & son-in-law Kathy & Jerry Shockley of Woodlawn; brothers & sisters-in-law Ray & Irene Mabe of Mt. Airy, NC and Buddy & Betty Mabe of Pine Hurst, NC; sister & brother-in-law Linda & Wayne Stewart of Kernersville, NC; four grandchildren & spouses Kristina & Mike Durnil, Kodie & Travis White, Kasey & Brian Moser, Brad Shockley & fianc Amy Montgomery; two great grandchildren Kendra Durnil and Kailey White; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM, with Charles Bunn and Elder Edward Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Mabe Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115 and Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193 AF & AM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 15, 2008 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
