Bobby Joe Akers, 73 of Galax, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Wake Forest Medical Center.  Mr. Akers was born in Wythe County to the late Clyde Wesley and Evelyn Odine Gravley Akers.

Survivors include his wife, Eva G. Akers; step-son, Robert Thomas, Jr.; siblings, Danny Akers, Claude Akers, Sr., Jacky Akers, Ricky Akers, Claude Akers "Butch", Lee Akers, and Debbie Buchanan; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Ronnie Sawyers officiating.  Burial will follow in the Bishop Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel to help with expenses.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
