Bishop R. Leon Goad, age 74, of Hillsville passed away peacefully at his home on September 1, 2022.  He is survived by his wife Dolores Elaine Goad, his children Sarah Venegas, William Goad, and Suzanne Goad.  His grandchildren: Marine-Elizabeth Venegas, Sara-Amanda Venegas, and Raul-Lucas Venegas, Emily Goad, Matthew Goad, and Chesney Goad.

Leon was the founder and Bishop of New Life Church and Ministries, an international ministry with its many divisions including the minister ordination department, New Life Christian Academy, New Life Bible College and Seminary with its extensions, pastor of the Hillsville Worship Center, as well as the radio stations WHHV, WGFC and WNLB.  Leon's energy and drive was a living testimony of the love he has for God, for His Word, his respect for the anointing, and his love for God's people.  His constant thought was "What can I do next?" He was also a powerful and dynamic minister for over to years believing in the demonstration of the power of the Holy Ghost and the gifts of God's Spirit.  He will be greatly missed by countless people all over the world whose lives he touched.  He was a devout   husband, father and grandfather.  His legacy will live on.

The viewing will be held Saturday, September 3, 2022 at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  Services will be held Sunday, September 4, 2022 in the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM followed by the graveside service at Wilkinson Memorial Cemetery.  Chris Mullins, Frank Jennings, Craig Shelton and Sandy Haga will be officiating.
