Billy Ray Wright, Sr, 76, of Mount Airy, North Carolina passed away peacefully Friday, December 26, 2025 at his home.  Mr. Wright was born March 1, 1949 in Davie County, North Carolina to the late Clinton Shasta Wright, Sr., and Kathryn Nora Styers Wright. He was also preceded in death by sister Betty (Joe) Howell, brother Bobby Wright, brother-in-law Luther Akers, and granddaughter Keri Wright.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Barbara Wright: two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty (Mike) Asbell; Bonnie (Dwayne) Beasley; four sons and daughters-in-law: Billy Ray (Angie) Wright, Jr.; Bobby Joe (Sandra) Wright; Brady Gene (Kim) Wright and Brian Lee (Nora) Wright; sister Norma Akers; and sister in-law: Rita Wright and Lynda (Jeff) Morrison. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, as well as special friends Ronnie & Vickie Cummings and Jimmy Manuel.

Memorial service will be held Thursday January 1, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Endless Possibilities Church, 627 Glendale Road, Galax, Virginia with Pastor Rodney Christman officiating.  Interment will be at the Phillips Cemetery, Woodlawn, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time at the church.
