Billie Jo "Brooke" Bowman-Wood, 54, of Radford, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Mrs. Wood was born in Radford to the late Rush T. and Sylvia Loraine Jackson Bowman. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Peter Wood and a sister, Rhonda Moore.

BJ, as the family knew her, was intrigued by life itself. She loved words, of which she was the master. She loved writing and here-in was her beauty. Her love of literature and writing, maybe even exceeded that of John Boy himself. BJ was a journalist for The Southwest Times in Pulaski. She was much loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Brenda Bowman of Jefferson, NC; nephews, Jeremy Bowman of Lansing, NC and Justin Bowman of High Point, NC; nieces, Nicole Lawson of Floyd, VA and Elesha Pittman of Wake Forest, NC; great-nephews, Braxton, Brady, Mason, and Rush; and great-nieces, Kendra, Madison, and Meadow.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Shannon Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurel Fork Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. In lieu of food and flowers, donations may be made to the family or the funeral home to go towards the funeral cost. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
