Bill Gilmer Delton Stone, 76 of Austinville, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Stone was born in Carroll County to the late Pierce & Stella Bryant Stone. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by siblings Opal Horton, Clyde Stone, and Lois Chapman. Bill became a Christian on June 21, 1953 at the age of 19 and then shortly after a Deacon and Elder in the Christian Church. Mr. Stone was also a Charter Member of the Laurel Rescue Squad. Bill worked for the Carroll County Sheriffs Department for five years and worked in the family business for over 44 years running Stones Grocery for 23 years and Stones Carpet in Pulaski for 21 years.

Survivors include his wife Gladys Jones Stone of the home; daughter Cynthia Stone Angell & husband Jeffrey of Salem; grandson Phoenix Gage Angell; sisters Clara Gills of Arlington, VA and Kathleen Gravley of Austinville; brother & sister-in-law Carroll & Joyce Stone of Draper; sister-in-law Eleanor Stone of Delaware; and several nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Leo Phillips and Pastor James Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in the Coulson Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
