Betty Lou Shepherd Sutphin, 83, of Hillsville, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mrs. Sutphin was born in Carroll County to the late Chosley Hill and Grace Mildred DeHaven Shepherd. Survivors include her husband, Clyde Ray Sutphin of the home; children and spouses, Beverly Sutphin and Mat Reynolds of Pulaski, Dana Sutphin and Bob Snow of Hillsville, Clyde Hal and Lydia Sutphin of Galax, and Jill Sutphin and Steven Worrell of Hillsville; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Pastor Michael Shockley officiating. Burial will follow in the Turner-Duncan Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hillsville, 1401 North Main Street, Hillsville, VA 24343. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
