Betty Gallimore
Quesinberry
December 7, 1942 – November 18, 2025
Betty Lou Gallimore Quesinberry, 82, of Dugspur, Virginia, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, surrounded by her family. Betty touched countless lives with her kindness, empathy and compassion towards others.
Born on December 7, 1942, in Dugspur, Virginia, Betty was the second of five children of Glenn and Tina Gallimore. She graduated from the Martin Memorial School of Nursing in Mt. Airy, North Carolina. Shortly after, she began her career as a Registered Nurse and was the first School Nurse for the Carroll County Public School system where she worked for thirty-five years before retiring from Carroll County. She then continued her RN career with the Southwest Virginia Training Center, Twin County Community Hospital, and Hospice before retiring for good.
Betty loved home-cooked meals and traveling with family across the county to visit distant relatives (as well as the occasional casino to try her luck). She was passionate about local history and restoring the original Dugspur Post Office where her great-grandmother was post-master.
Betty is survived by her sister, Sandra Gallimore McGrady, and brothers, William (Linda) Gallimore and David Gallimore. Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Gallimore. Betty is also survived by generations of nieces, nephews, cousins, and others she chose (and who chose her) as family. While she had no biological children of her own, she was a mother and parent to many, who always knew they had Betty's support and comfort. Her idea of family knew no boundaries, and you were lucky to be welcomed into her fold. She will be missed dearly by all of those who knew and loved her.
Following Betty's wishes, there will be no public service. The family will have a private graveside service at the McPeak-Gallimore Cemetery. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
