Betty Lou Bowman Stamper, 77, of Galax, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Golden Living Center. Ms. Stamper was born in Carroll County to the late Linnie Jordon and Beatrice Margaret King Newman. Survivors include her children and spouses, Richard and Adrie Bowman of Hillsville, Everett Dean Bowman of Woodlawn, Roger Neal Bowman of Galax, Eddie Ray and Karen Bowman of Galax, and Angela and Glenn Williams of Woodlawn; brother and sister-in-law, Roger Dale and Judy Newman of Hillsville; sisters, Bobbie Fender of Woodlawn and Eloise Viars of Fredericksburg; 14 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Cas Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
